DOMAIN CHECKER

Check any domain’s registration and SSL.

See who a domain is registered with, when it expires, whether it’s locked, and whether its SSL certificate is valid, all in one place.

Registration data comes live from each registry’s official RDAP service, which has replaced WHOIS for generic domains. Some country domains, such as .de, don’t publish it there. Owner contact details are usually hidden for privacy.

About domains.

What the results mean.

What happens when a domain expires?

The website and email usually stop working within days. Most registrars then allow a grace period to renew, followed by a redemption period with a fee, before the domain is deleted and anyone can register it. Turn on auto-renew to avoid this.

What is a transfer lock?

A transfer lock (clientTransferProhibited) stops the domain being moved to another registrar. Keep it on unless you are transferring the domain yourself. It is one of the simplest protections against domain theft.

What is RDAP, and how is it different from WHOIS?

RDAP is the modern replacement for WHOIS. It returns the same registration data in a structured format, over HTTPS. Registries for generic domains such as .com switched to it in 2025.

Why is my SSL certificate not trusted?

The usual causes are an expired certificate, a certificate issued for a different name, or a missing intermediate certificate on the server. Browsers show a security warning in each case. Most hosts can renew certificates automatically with Let’s Encrypt.

What is DNSSEC?

DNSSEC adds cryptographic signatures to DNS records so resolvers can detect forged answers. It is optional, and must be enabled both at your DNS host and at your registrar.
